Top 3 Tweetup Twesults
A quick and easy article read over at Adweek online points out that many consumer brands and sporting organizations are using the power of Twitter to conduct “Tweetups” loosely defined as in person gatherings organized via Twitter.
What can conservatives, state parties, candidates, and campaigns leverage from Tweetups?
- Intimacy – Tweetups are often small and very focused groups where connections can be made and points can be explored in more depth.
- Low cost – Often Tweetups take place in a public place like a restaurant or a home. Some cheap food and drink later and you’re done.
- Face time with tech savvy voters – If a candidate meets 100 people at a Tweetup, odds are that there will be 100+ Tweets and 10-20 blog entries about that meeting in the blogosphere within 24 hours. My general observation is that even those who disagree with the policies/positions of a candidate or incumbent will give positive feedback post-Tweetup.
Every “offline” vote counts equally but in today’s races where defensible online reputation, evangelism, and activism abound, the Tweetup packs a high value.
